I am very excited to announce (long over due) our new working member, Bronwyn!  Bronwyn is a hard working vegetarian who has been choosing Organic food for twenty years.  She lives a five minute walk from Hazelmere Organic Farm and is very much looking forward to being a part of The Honest to Goodness Farm Co.!

Her background includes years of working with troubled youth and families from difficult circumstances.  She also facilitates an ongoing stillness meditation group and works with people individually to help them see where the mind creates patterns and ways of being that sabotage joy and peace of mind.  In between being otherwise amazing, Bronwyn is a water colour artist and, at times, mentors children and adults who like to paint.  After years of living in the Gulf Islands, she was offered a great little cabin to rent by dear friends and she moved to the beautiful world of Hazelmere.   She has been working near by at Willowacres Equestrian Centre for 7 years and is no stranger to farm life.

She is ready and very happy for the opportunity to work with The Honest to Goodness Farm Co. team and we are excited to have her!  Welcome Bronwyn!!

2016!

Last year, being our pilot season, was a huge success!  We almost tripled the number of members we were hoping for and donated almost $700 worth of fresh, Organic produce to the the local food bank.  It's with great excitement I open registration for 2016!

This winter Jason and I have been busy starting up our beekeeping operation.  With a lot of luck and hopefully a few skills that I'll pick up through the Kwantlen Beekeeping program, I hope to include honey in your shares this season!  We are starting with 9 hives and plan to experiment with a few different styles of beekeeping.  I will be extra busy this summer during the apprenticeship portion of the program but will do my very best to provide you all with the same great service.  With that news, I will be looking for a working member for the season!  I will let everyone know when I begin accepting applications.

Aside from bees, we will be adapting the structure of the collective a tad.  This season we plan to include any goodies that our members may be growing in their backyards!  So far we have Red Russian garlic and Walnuts on the list!  This is very exciting because it's the beginning of my long term vision for The Honest to Goodness Farm Company as a true community collective.  This does mean, however, that we slip slightly away from our strict Certified Organic motto.  Our main chunk of dirt, Hazelmere Organic Farm is, of course, still Certified Organic and any small Commercial farms that we may supplement from will be Certified Organic.  As for our busy backyard farmers, I will be taking great precautions to ensure anything accepted has been Organically grown.

On that note, and with great anticipation, I open registration for 2016!

I look forward to catching up with you all!

Things are getting wet and chilly out there so remember to dry off all your squash and onions to make sure they store well, any moisture may turn to rot.  Only 9 more days left in the season and this is your second last share:

-Bok Choy (I can't get enough of this stuff, last week I put it in pasta, curry, and quinoa salad).
-Carrots
-Green Leaf Lettuce
-Onions
-Yukon Potatoes
-Spinach
-Acorn Squash
-Delicata Squash

This late in the season, things are subject to change a little last minute.  If that does happen I will try to keep it as similar as possible for your meal planning.  Stay warm and dry out there!
