Farm collective cost breakdown

Hey folks!

I've been meaning to do this for awhile now. I wanted to talk about price. The idea behind a farm collective is to support local, organic farms, keep our money in the community and SAVE MONEY.

A 10lbs case of local organic blueberries goes for $100 on SPUD. They are currently on sale on their website for $69. Our regular price is $39 - delivered.

As for this week? This is what a full member share ($30) would cost you if you went out and bought it at Thriftys:

Organic Celery: $5
Organic Chives: $2
Organic Cucumber: $1.70
Organic Kale: $3
Organic Potatoes: $5
Organic Shallots: $5
Organic Pattypan Squash: $4.40
Organic Blueberries: $9
Organic Corn: $4.70

Total: $39.80

That's a 33% savings you get for buying local through a collective.

Why buy organic? Great question. I will answer that a little later on.

And on another note, you were all surprised with fresh figs this week!  While I was out picking your delicious kale before deliveries, farmer Naty let me taste one, I couldn't help myself.  I hope everyone enjoyed them!
